Ray has a passion for ‘all things musical theatre’ right down to his coffee mug collection. CMTDG grew out of this passion and the discovery that Canadian composers and lyricists need support and assistance to find an audience for their musicals.

One of CMTDG’s co-founders, Ray has finally found a way to combine a business degree and his love for musical theatre! As general manager, he has many offstage duties, such as managing the group’s finances and dealing with legal issues. But this talented singer and actor also relishes any opportunity to do “on-stage” duties.

Ray is proud to carry the torch, with his CMTDG teammates, and set the stage for the future of Canadian musicals.

Jeffrey has always been drawn to the spectacle of musical theatre - the lights, the music, the dancing, singing in harmony, and the stories. Since experiencing musical theatre through Rainbow Stage, MTC, StageWest, TC, The Citadel, UofW, Community Theatre and instucting various classes and workshops, Jeffrey believes that musical theatre has only begun to play its role in contributing to Winnipeg's cultural identity.

Jeffrey believes musical theatre is more than an art form - it is a community. Whether you act, sing, dance, draw, sew, build, write, or just like to see it all from the audience, there is a place for all in the world of musical theatre.

Jeffrey is so happy to be involved with CMTDG. There is a sense of peace and purpose being surrounded by so many like-minded individuals.

Annette came to a love of musical theatre through her own discoveries and though she was never bitten by the acting bug, she nonetheless recognized that when it came to musical theatre, anything was possible. That life was all about rhythm, soul and having a couple of dang good stories to tell.

Now years later Annette is thrilled and proud to be working shoulder to shoulder with a group of people dedicated to the “possibilities” of musical theatre.

"Music expresses that which can not be said
and on which it is impossible to be silent."
-Victor Hugo

By day, Alana is a student at the University of Winnipeg, where she is earning a triple Bachelors degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice Studies and Theatre & Film (Production and Stage Management). In her spare time, Alana can be found working with other theatre groups, including Kiss the Giraffe and Phoenix Productions.

By night, Alana appeases her fleeting sanity with show tunes and the company of other thespians. Over the years, she has had opportunities to work with some of Winnipeg’s most gifted theatre professionals. She thanks them for sharing their wisdom and experience, from which she has learned more than can be put into words. Alana also wants to thank her family, friends, professors and employers for accommodating her never-ending rehearsal schedules.

Alana is so proud of what CMTDG has accomplished in its first few years, and cannot wait to see what the future holds. As a team member, Alana looks forward to helping make the dreams of Canadian talents a reality.

Ken has been working in and out of theatre for more than a dozen years in almost as many cities. Fortunately for Winnipeg, this travelling techie has decided to stay put – at least long enough to finally get his degree in the career he loves – theatrical design and production.

Currently a student at the University of Winnipeg, Ken has volunteered to lend his considerable talents backstage to the CMTDG team. While he specializes in sound and lights, Ken has a good grasp of all the backstage wizardry necessary to help CMTDG work its magic.

In his rare spare time, Ken enjoys reading, cooking and is always up for a pint.

Webmaster and graphic designer extraordinaire, Ryan is the brains behind CMTDG online. His innovative construction, and ongoing commitment to upgrade, update and spice up the website, keeps musical theatre lovers clicking on and tuning in.

Ryan actually pulls double-duty for CMTDG – he is the resident artist, lending his creative designs to posters, banners and other promotional materials. From the page to the stage, Ryan’s rich background visuals and animation add additional sparkle to CMTDG’s live productions.

Ryan is thrilled to be a member of the CMTDG team. As the group progresses, so too will this site. Ryan welcomes questions or feedback concerning its construction and use.

Ever since she appeared as the eighth Von Trapp family member in a community production of The Sound of Music (she was three at the time, and refused to leave the stage), Tracy has had an on-again, off-again love affair with musical theatre. Despite her best efforts to break away and become a computer programmer, she was lured back into the life, and fled to Toronto to follow her heart.

After 10 years in the biz – performing, producing, merchandising, managing, and hanging with T.O.’s musical theatre elite – Tracy returned to Winnipeg to settle down and raise her family. She’s very happy to have this opportunity to do marketing for CMTDG.

About a year ago, Robbi attended a cabaret at the Park Theatre. After watching a brilliant cast of singers take turns performing Broadway tunes – some crowd favourites, some hot off the New York stage, and some from new Canadian musicals – she remembers thinking: Musical theatre is alive and well and living in Winnipeg.

Robbi's passion for musical theatre began as a child, attending Hollow Mug performances with her parents. (For those of you under 40, think: “Celebrations.”) Little did she know the magic of musicals would stay with her and become a lifelong love.

She is glad to be able to utilize her writing/communications expertise to help this group continue to grow. Robbi thinks CMTDG is an exceptionally bright spot on Winnipeg’s musical theatre marquee, and she is thrilled to be a part of what makes it shine.
